Join us to journey through a calendar year in poetry, read by actors on stage at the National Theatre. Allie Esiri and Damian Lewis were joined by friends including Simon Russell Beale, Fay Ripley, Danny Sapani and Lesley Sharp. Chris Riddell live drew the evening. A Poet for Every Day of the Year is dedicated to Helen McCrory, who took part in some of these poetry evenings in previous years.

An unforgettable talent. Carey Mulligan paid tribute to late Harry Potter star Helen McCrory after taking home a big win at the 2021 Independent Spirit Awards on Thursday, April 22.

“I just want to dedicate this award to a true independent spirit and actress that I have looked up to and will continue to look up to for the rest of my career: Helen McCrory,” Mulligan, 35, said as she accepted Best Female Lead on Thursday for her work in Promising Young Woman. “Thank you to her for everything she gave us.”

The Queenswood community was immensely shocked and saddened at the news of Helen McCrory’s passing on Friday 16 April 2021.

Helen, who was awarded an OBE for her services to drama in 2017, discovered her passion for acting as a pupil at Queenswood in the 1980s.
