Peaky Blinders fans have been left in tears after BBC aired the late Helen McCrory’s final scenes as Aunt Polly Gray. The sixth and final series of Peaky Blinders continued tonight (March 27) on BBC One.
Tommy Shelby (played by Cillian Murphy ) set out to change the face of Birmingham’s Chinatown and help his brother Arthur reconcile with ex Linda. Elsewhere in episode five, entitled ‘Road to Hell’, he introduced his secret son Duke to the rest of the family and suffered as his health continued to decline.
But the stand-out moment in tonight’s episode came towards the end when some mysterious new Aunt Polly scenes filmed before Helen McCrory’s death appeared in a dream sequence. Emotional fans took to Twitter to comment on the unexpected scenes.
Jen @jenhunt_ tweeted: “They didn’t have to show aunt polly in her last ever scenes there. Omg I’m a mess.” Samra @wickedveins commented: “HELEN’S TEARS GOODBYE. MICHAEL’S DREAM IN JAIL. Tommy’s hallucination, the music choice.”
Twitter user @xlaurenrhiannon wrote: “I miss Polly, just balled my eyes out at her coming on screen.” And Bethany @Bethhhanyyyy said: “Thanks Steven Knight, whole household is crying.”
