A Gong for FeedNHS
Damian Lewis is set to receive a gong in the Queen’s Birthday Honours this week for his FeedNHS, the NHS charity project that he developed and worked on along with Helen McCrory. During the Covid-19 pandemic, Damian and Helen helped raise £1.5 million to feed NSH staff during the CoVid-19 pandemic, which allowed 40,000 meals a day to be served to 100 hospitals.
Damian will also be honored with Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (CBE) for quietly carrying out philanthropic work for several charities, some of it wth Helen, over many years. One of these charities is Prince’s Trust for which Helen made her last appearance on TV only weeks before her passing.
The Sun quoted a friend stating, “This is richly deserved for all the work Damian has done for so many people with so much done with little or no public fanfare.”
The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire award (MBE, OBE, CBE) is a British order of chivalry, rewarding contributions to the arts and sciences, work with charitable and welfare organizations, and public service outside the Civil Service. This royal recognition comes after Damian was awarded an OBE by Prince William in 2014 and Helen was awarded an OBE by the Queen herself in 2017. We are sure the couple would receive this honor together should Helen have been with us today. But we know she will smile from above as Damian accepts his.
The Queen’s Birthday Honours 2022 will be printed in a special Gazette supplement in June 2022.
So well deserved for both of them. Even more special when you think of all this couple had to deal with at the time. I’ve never seen anyone Smile as much as the beautiful Helen Mccrory . Inspirational. 🌻
