National Theatre has officially confirmed that Helen will be leading one of its upcoming plays, “The Deep Blue Sea“. On its official website, they uploaded a short synopsis for the play and an amazing promotional image that shows Helen in it. The photo was taken by Dean Rogers. I added it to our photo gallery. Make sure to check it out!
A flat in Ladbroke Grove, West London. 1952.
When Hester Collyer is found by her neighbours in the aftermath of a failed suicide attempt, the story of her tempestuous affair with a former RAF pilot and the breakdown of her marriage to a High Court judge begins to emerge. With it comes a portrait of need, loneliness and long-repressed passion.
Behind the fragile veneer of post-war civility burns a brutal sense of loss and longing.
Terence Rattigan’s devastating masterpiece contains in Hester one of the greatest female roles in contemporary drama.
Helen McCrory and director Carrie Cracknell reunite following the acclaimed Medea in 2014.
Edit: I also added The Deep Blue Sea to the filmography/career page of the website and updated the play’s page. The complete list of Helen’s projects can be found here and the page for The Deep Blue Sea can be found here.
