I know it’s been a while and I should’ve updated the site more often, but I’ve been pretty busy with studying for my final exams at university. Fortunately, I had my last one for this semester today.

I came across this interview, which was published by the Telegraph last month. Still wanted to share it with you though.

Helen McCrory is known for playing strong women. She’s the gunslinging matriarch in period gangster drama Peaky Blinders and her CV is full of meaty stage roles, including a heartbreakingly defiant Medea at the National in 2014, and big-screen appearances, notably as an intransigent Cherie Blair in The Queen. So it’s strange to see her sitting down and eating very daintily, pushing the food to one side of her mouth.

“Look at me, I resemble a little gerbil,” she says.

Personally, if I had to compare her to an animal, it would be a cat. She has a feline sensuality and a formidable emotional intelligence which have marked her out as one of the most compelling actresses of her generation. These qualities are being put to good use in her latest stage role as Hester Collyer, the tragic wife at the heart of Terence Rattigan’s smouldering 1952 master- piece The Deep Blue Sea. The unhinged, sexually infatuated Hester has abandoned her High Court judge husband and Eaton Square home for a chaotic, all-consuming affair with boozy, former RAF pilot Freddie.

The Daily Mail published a new interview yesterday featuring Helen talking about her career, family, marriage and the news Peaky Blinders season 3.

She’s the feisty star of Peaky Blinders with forthright views on nudity, politics and why actors aren’t role models. He’s the Homeland heart-throb with an OBE. So who’s boss in the McCrory-Lewis house? The actress reveals all to Event…

Helen McCrory is rather pleased her husband, Homeland and Wolf Hall star Damian Lewis OBE, has been objectified as a pin-up, with topless shots from US TV series Billions plastered over the papers and glossy magazines alongside other British hunks Tom Hiddleston and Aidan Turner.

‘It’s lovely. Every wife wants to be with someone everyone finds attractive. Just like every husband wants to feel their wife is attractive,’ she says, perched at the bar of a London members’ club in high black boots and a black high-necked fitted dress with a sexy split in the skirt.

I’d heard McCrory was tiny. But she never looks tiny on screen, especially as Polly Gray the mobster matriarch in award-winning Peaky Blinders, which returns to BBC2 next month.

There you don’t think about her size, just her mesmerising force, equally apparent in her rapturously praised lead in Medea at the National Theatre.

It’s given her an impressively varied career. She’s appeared in two Harry Potter films, starred opposite 007 as MP Clair Dowar in Skyfall, played Cherie Blair in two films, and she’ll take to the stage of the National again next month in Terence Rattigan’s The Deep Blue Sea.

Birmingham Mail has been blessed to see the first episode of Peaky Blinders season 3 already. On their website they posted five interesting things which we can expect from the first episode of the upcoming new season. The fifth one is about Helen’s character Polly. The article includes some spoilers, so do not read on if you don’t like spoilers.

Tommy’s wedding

It’s already been revealed that Tommy Shelby gets married in the first episode, but to who? That’s the burning question that fans want to know the answer to.

And we don’t have to wait long to find out, as the episode opens with Tommy standing at the altar, and the bride is unveiled four minutes in. We could tell you who, but then we’d have to kill you – by order of the Peaky Blinders. The wedding itself is both moving and hilarious, especially best man Arthur’s speech.

The story has moved on by two years

That means some characters are no longer relevant while new people have joined the cast. They include Kate Phillips, who was Jane Seymour in Wolf Hall and now plays Linda, the new wife of Arthur. Paddy Considine has also joined to play a priest but doesn’t appear in the first episode.

Tommy’s gone up in the world

Tommy’s illegal betting activities means he now has lots of money.

He’s left Small Heath far behind (although he still visits) and is now living in a huge mansion, with large grounds, a library and portraits on the walls. It was filmed at Arley House in Cheshire. And he’s even started a charity to give back to the poor of Birmingham.

There are Russians involved

Tommy is mixed up in illicit business with a group of Russians, which could be highly dangerous. In the first episode he has an interesting encounter with Grand Duchess Tatiana.

Polly is a great flirt

Watch Polly chat up men in style – and in nice frocks, now she’s rich. It’s nice to think she might get a love life, but she is still living with the consequences of having killed a man.

This morning (March 14) Helen appeared on Lorraine on ITV and is supporting this month’s Marie Curie Great Daffodil Appeal and joins Lorraine to tell us more.

Every March, thousands of people across the country join together to get behind the cause and raise money for Marie Curie Nurses. By collecting, donating, shopping or doing something they love, they’re supporting people living with a terminal illness, and their families. Helen tells us why the appeal is so close to her heart.

She also confirmed the rumors about the Peaky Blinders airing of season 3. Helen – who plays Aunt Polly – was asked about the show and confirmed that the show will return next month, in April.

“We’ve just finished Peaky. Peaky’s coming back in April,” she stated.

She also talked about the rumors going around saying that she will appear in the upcoming Penny Dreadful season. She confirmed that she will NOT appear in it!

“Penny Dreadful is coming back, but not me within it. I was actually decapitated,” she pointed out.

You can watch the entire episode on Lorraine official website (if you’re living in the UK). If not, you can still watch Helen’s part below.
